Very Beginner's Intro to Spinning on Wheels ~ October 29th from 6pm to 9 pm

Get started spinning on your wheel or a store wheel (contact store before class). Spinning on a wheel is like patting your head and rubbing your belly at the same time. It may take a few tries to be comfortable drafting and treadling. It may take longer to spin the yarn you want. Some wheels may need a few examinations, adjustments, or repairs especially if the wheel was pre-owned. It may be the fiber or the bobbin, not the spinner, that is causing trouble. 

This 3-hour class will examine your wheel (or your dream wheel), your previous experience/knowledge, your fiber to get you started spinning on a wheel. 

-Why spin on a wheel?

-How wheels operate: different styles and tension systems

-How to draft and treadle at the same time (or not. How to do one at a time)

-Basic yarn structure for knitting, weaving, or crochet

Students will leave the class with better understanding and confidence working on their wheel. 

Materials: Spinning wheel if you have one. Bring all the accessories (whorls, bobbins, drive bands, oil, etc.) Various fibers will be available to spin during class. Feel free to bring your own fiber

Prerequisites: None, just bring your enthusiastic self and be ready to go!
