Knitting 201: How to Read Your Knitting & Patterns ~ January 18th, 10am to 12noon
Instructor: Deirdre Holder
As a knitter, learning to read your knitting can help you understand many things about how knitting works. For example,
- how to see where you need to begin again when you come back to a project,
- how the pattern designer expects the fabric to look,
- how to adjust for your personal knitting style, and
- how to spot mistakes (and fix them).
Reading your knitting can also help you choose patterns you’ll enjoy, understand why certain techniques work the way they do, and feel more confident following instructions.
Along with learning to read your knitting, we’ll cover how to read knitting patterns and, time permitting, demystify knitting charts.
Skills Needed: You must know how to knit and purl.
What to Bring: If you have swatches, please bring them. You’re also welcome to bring a work-in-progress or a recently completed project. Bring a pattern you plan to knit soon, aspire to knit, or have questions about.
No special preparation is required for this class; just be ready to have some fun!
