Needle Felted Beads ~ February 26th, 7pm to 9pm
Needle Felting: Felted Beads
Instructor - Ikumi Kamara
Felted “beads” are endlessly useful—they can become garlands, embellishments for knits, small decorations for notions, soft eyes for toys, or even toys for cats. They can be any shape, any color, and as simple or detailed as you like.
Needle felting is a versatile technique for creating flat or three-dimensional shapes using wool. In this class, we’ll cover the basics of how wool sticks to itself (by stabbing it repeatedly), and you’ll leave with a pile of felted pieces and the confidence to keep going. Felting is a great stress reliever.
Prior Experience:
Stabbing things. (Or a strong desire to stab things!)
What to Bring:
A needle felting needle (#38 gauge is a solid all-purpose size), foam for a work surface, and—if you’re accident prone—Neosporin and band-aids.
Optional: herbs such as lavender or catnip to put inside your felted pieces.
Provided:
A variety of fibers in different types and colors, plus cookie cutters for shaping at no additional fee. Needles and foam are available to purchase at the store, if needed.
