Knitting a Chemo Hat ~ March 22nd, 10am to 12noon
Instructor - Deirdre Holder
What makes a chemo hat different from a regular hat? From an insider’s perspective, quite a lot. I knit and wore my own chemo hats, and losing your hair when it isn’t your choice brings challenges that many knitters don’t expect.
In this class, we’ll talk about what truly matters when knitting chemo hats—comfort, softness, fit, warmth without overheating, and feeling like yourself. We’ll explore thoughtful pattern choices, yarn selection, color considerations, and small design details that can make a big difference for the person wearing the hat.
You’ll leave class with a clear plan for a chemo hat pattern and yarn that feels right for its purpose. If you’re ready to dive in, you’ll also have time to begin knitting your hat during class.
This class is perfect whether you’re knitting for yourself, for a loved one, or for donation.
Prerequisites:
You should know how to knit, including casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch, and binding off.
