Learn to knit and make a hat

It is that time of year! A favorite class is back. You will be sure to impress family and friends with your new hat-making brilliance.
This 3-hour class will introduce knitting skills through working a project. We will discuss tools of the trade, knitting terms, gauge, yarn weights. The skills you learn will be applied immediately as you start whipping up a great simple hat that is sure to keep you warm and cozy, or serve as an excellent gift..
This class is appropriate for all-age groups, brand new knitters, and will be really fun for care-giver and child to take together! Follow up assistance is available Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 9pm.
During this session you will learn:
- How to cast on
- The knit stitch
- The purl stitch
- Decreasing stitches
- How to pick up a dropped stitch
- How to fix a twisted stitch
- Common knitting terms
Materials
- 66 yards, Chunky yarn -- 1 skein Urth Koozoo or Malabrigo Rasta recommended
- US size 13, 16 inch circular needles
- Pattern available for free during class or download ahead of time from Ravelry
Please bring your materials ready to work at the beginning of class time. If you need materials, all are available for purchase at the store. 10% discount applied to students.
