Knitted Colorwork Headband ~ April 4 (10am to 12:30pm)
What you will learn:
- How to pick colors to best show colorwork designs when used together
- How to keep your color changes and the design smooth
- How to knit for color dominance, to see designs clearly
- Simple knit increase and decrease (for the large size)
- The long tail cast on (a good default if a pattern doesn’t specify a particular cast on)
- Reading a simple chart

Purchase the Celtic Knot Headband pattern by Sandy Mills (about $4.59 US; C$6 CAD) – available on www.Ravelry.com: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/celtic-knot-headband-2 (the pattern will be stored electronically in your Ravelry library and you can print it out or pull the pdf into another electronic device, for example a row counter app) or from New Age Knitting CA on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/1076658636/celtic-knot-headband-design-for-men-and?ref=shop_home_active_17.
What to Bring:
- Worsted weight yarn – 2 colors, 57 yards (52 m) – main color; 35 yards (32 mm – contrast color
- Knitting needles – 16” circular needles in sizes US 7 – 4.5 mm & US 6 - 4.0 mm (If you choose to do a gauge swatch, gauge is 18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch (alternating knit a row, purl a row), unblocked on larger size knitting needles; smaller needles are 1 size smaller than the needles you got gauge on)
- Copy of the pattern
- 14 – 15 stitch markers (small vs. large size headband) (beginning of round stitch marker should look different from the other stitch markers)
