Beginning Tunisian Crochet is back! We are excited to offer this 3-hour, hands-on, guided introduction to the unique craft of Tunisian crochet - a technique that blends elements of crochet and knitting to create dense, textured fabric.
This fun crochet technique dates back to at least the early 1800s and has undergone a large rise in popularity in recent years.

Tools & Materials:
- Understanding the Tunisian crochet hook (longer than a standard hook, often with a stopper or cord)
- Choosing the right yarn for beginners (usually medium weight)

Basic Techniques:
- Foundation row: Starting your first piece
- Forward pass and return pass: The two-part process unique to Tunisian crochet
- Learning the Tunisian Simple Stitch (TSS)—the most basic and commonly used stitch
- Tips on tension, posture, and how to avoid curling

- Making a simple swatch or beginner project (like a coaster, dishcloth, or headband)

Class Supply List
- Tunisian crochet hook (6.0 or 6.5 mm) Shop hooks are available for use during class.
- A DK weight yarn - cotton if you choose to make a washcloth.
Shop yarn is available for initial use during class. - You are welcome to bring supplies purchased at another shop.
Skill Level: Complete Beginner -- You should know the chain stitch; if you do not, please come by the shop before the class for a quick chain stitch lesson.
