Doppio Sweater Class
Maybe you’ve knit a basic sweater before, or maybe this will be your first! The Doppio Sweater by Seunghee Hong is a slightly elevated take on a classic sweater, making it a great project for knitters who know the basics and are ready to build their skills.
Throughout the class, we’ll work through the sweater together and cover techniques such as picking up stitches, creating a folded collar, lifted increases, short-row shaping, and a tubular bind-off. Depending on the yarn you choose, we may also cover holding multiple strands of yarn together to achieve the fabric and gauge you want.
This class is designed for confident beginners and beyond. You should already be comfortable knitting, purling, working in the round, and reading a basic pattern, but you do not need to have knit a sweater before.
By the end of the class, you’ll have worked through the construction of a beautiful, wearable sweater and gained techniques you can carry into future projects. Even better, you’ll be well on your way to having a staple piece you’ll reach for again and again.

Class Schedule
Session 1: October 15, 6:30 to 9:00 PM
Getting Started
Please come to class with your yarn, needles, and a completed, blocked gauge swatch. We’ll go over the pattern construction, talk through sizing and fit, and answer any questions before casting on together.
From there, we’ll get started on the yoke, raglan shaping, lifted increases, and short rows.
Homework: Continue working through the yoke as you’re able.
Session 2: October 22, 6:30 to 9:00 PM
Separating for the Body
We’ll check in on everyone’s progress, troubleshoot any issues from the yoke, and work through separating the sleeves from the body. We’ll also talk about adjusting body and sleeve length to get the fit you want.
Then comes the nice part: lots of knitting in the round!
Homework: Work on the body and/or sleeves during the break between classes.
Session 3: November 5, 6:30 to 9:00 PM
Neckline & Finishing Techniques
This session will focus on some of the slightly more elevated details of the Doppio. We’ll cover picking up stitches for the neckline, creating the folded collar, and any remaining questions about finishing the body or sleeves.
We’ll also start going over the tubular bind-off so you’re ready when you reach your hems and cuffs.
Homework: Keep working toward finishing your sweater.
Session 4: November 19, 6:30 to 9:00 PM
Finishing Your Sweater
For our final scheduled session, we’ll focus on getting everything finished and polished. We’ll practice the tubular bind-off and talk through underarm finishing, weaving in ends, blocking, and any last fit adjustments.
We’ll also troubleshoot individual projects and make sure everyone leaves knowing exactly what they need to do to finish their sweater.
Sunday Office Hours
Optional weekly office hours will be held every Sunday at 3:00 PM for anyone who would like some extra help, needs to troubleshoot something, or wants to play catch-up before the next class session.
A Note About the Class Schedule
This schedule is meant to be flexible and may shift depending on what we accomplish during each session. Some techniques may spill over into the following class, and we’ll adjust homework and class time as needed.
If we decide as a group that a fifth session would be helpful, we may add one at no additional cost. We’ll evaluate where everyone is with their sweaters as we go and make that decision together.
Homework is flexible too! The breaks between classes are intentionally built in to give everyone time to work through the longer stretches of knitting in the round. Just make as much progress as works for you.
