Crochet a Bucket Hat – Beginner/Intermediate Class

Bucket hats are back in style—and even better when you make them yourself! In this fun and relaxed class, you’ll learn how to crochet your very own bucket hat from start to finish. Perfect for sunny days, beach trips, festivals, or just adding a handmade touch to your everyday style, this project is both practical and trendy.

In this class, you’ll learn:

• How to crochet in the round

• Increasing stitches to shape the crown

• Building the sides of your hat with simple stitch patterns

• Creating a sturdy, flared brim

• Tips for customizing fit and adding your own flair with color changes or edging

This class is great for confident beginners who know the basics (chain, single crochet, double crochet) and are ready to take their skills to the next level. Don’t worry—we’ll walk through each step together so you’ll feel supported throughout the process.

By the end of class, you’ll leave with a stylish handmade bucket hat (or well on your way to finishing one) and the knowledge to make more in any color you like.

Suggested Supplies:

• Worsted weight cotton yarn (cotton helps the hat hold its shape)

• Crochet hook size H/8 (5.0 mm) or I/9 (5.5 mm) depending on your tension

• Tapestry needle for finishing touches

• Stitch markers to help keep track of rounds

• Small pair of scissors or yarn snips
